Experiential and Play-Based

Livingston Street is truly a mecca for young children because we allow the child to be herself entirely. We know that young children not only love to play, but need to play. They cannot stop themselves from playing the way we cannot stop ourselves from breathing, and we believe in trusting and honoring this need by providing children with entire days of child-directed play and experiences.

These days, it’s hard to find large chunks of time for children to experience uninterrupted play. This is partially due to necessary demands of caregiving, like providing meals and rest times, but also due to a cultural focus on the future that results in over scheduling play dates, tutors, and athletic teams. At Livingston Street, we work to mitigate these cultural demands and the needs of children by providing chunks of interrupted time to play and learn through a variety of experiences.
