Livingston Street Early Childhood Community is hiring!
Livingston St is a New York State licensed daycare program. We provide socially responsible care and community for young children and their families.
At the core of our practice is the recognition that high quality, intentional childcare can significantly affect our society. In our world these days, we are confronting massive systemic and social problems – climate change, social justice, racial and gender equity, just to rattle off a few. These are problems that need long-term solutions, that require a cultural shift. Working as a teacher of young children, you have the opportunity to guide humans in ways that will benefit them for life.
With the care we provide, we celebrate and nurture communication, collaboration, critical thinking, reflection, resiliency, and relational sensitivity. We empower individuals by supporting the innate skills and abilities we all have within. Our daily experiences require focus on supporting communication, social/emotional development, and building relationships, all while spending a substantial amount of time outdoors.
Our pedagogy is firmly rooted in evidence-based research of how humans develop. Early childhood craves big body play, risk-taking, free-play, and a great deal more in order to be developmentally appropriate. We are here to support their growth toward becoming both successful individuals and members of a community. Our practices are firmly rooted in having fun, embracing the absurd, and creating a joyful atmosphere.
We are looking for an individual to join our small team of teachers. We would like to find someone who:
-
Loves the outdoors (we spend ~5 hours outdoors daily, in all weather, all seasons)
-
Is a life-long-learner and willing collaborator
-
Is able to find humor in challenging situations
-
Is comfortable receiving guidance and support from others
-
Is playful, energetic and enjoys the company of others
-
Is civically minded and dedicated to serving the community
-
Is emotionally sensitive, observant, and reflective
-
Is interested in language, sensory, and cognitive development in early childhood.
