Business Development Executive

Livingston Street seeks an individual who is looking to hone their skills in non-profit business management while both meeting state regulations, and advocating for early childhood care in New York State with the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). Working collaboratively with the Program Leader, the BDE will support the vision, curriculum, and tone of Livingston Street by operating in a financially sustainable manner, creating budgets that meet Livingston Street’s goals, communicating with the Board of Directors and the state regulatory agency OCFS, and in general running the non-profit, NYS licensed portion of the business. 

Livingston Street Early Childhood Community operates as a non-profit, New York State licensed daycare center in Kingston, NY. Since its founding in 2010, Livingston Street has been a beacon for high-quality early childhood care practices utilizing research based on human development and relationship building.

Livingston Street has proven itself to have a flexible business strategy, operate in a financially sustainable way, remain socially responsible and goal driven with progressive ideals coupled with action and activism, while remaining committed to the care, education, and betterment of children and families within our region.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership, management expertise, and financial oversight, working in partnership with the Program Leader, the board, and OCFS to operate the business
  2. Communicate and interface with OCFS
  3. Plan, implement, and operate the daily business operations associated with a non-profit childcare center, including collect tuition, maintain the budget, track expenses, communicate with bookkeeper and accountant, file taxes on-time, pursue enrollment, maintain and manage child and staff files, complete bi-weekly payroll, update annual forms such as calendar, contract, attendance, etc., with treasurer meet and present financials to board monthly, 
  4. Plan, implement, and operate the daily business operations associated with a NYS licensed daycare center by representing Livingston Street, know and understand state requirements for operating a licensed daycare program, stay in compliance with state and local daycare center requirements, communicate and interface with OCFS, communicate to board any and all interactions with OCFS, advocate for Livingston Street if necessary, complete required application for re-licensing every 2 years
  5. Prioritize organizational efforts and communication to support a commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion within our community
  6. May require occasional substitute teaching on an as needed basis

Qualifications/Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree, including or in addition to 12 credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field; one year of full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program; and one year of experience supervising staff in a child care program or a related field of work; OR
  2. New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential; one year of full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program; and one year of experience supervising staff in a child care program or a related field of work; OR
  3. Associate’s degree in Early Childhood or related field, with a plan of study leading to a Bachelor’s degree or a New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential; two years of full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program; and two years of experience supervising staff in a child care program or a related field of work; OR
  4. Child Development Associate Credential or other Office-recognized credential, with a plan of study leading to a Bachelor’s degree or a New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential; two years of full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program; and two years of experience.

Compensation:

A wage of $30 per hour based on a minimum of 18 hours of work for 48 weeks per year. 

Time spent communicating with OCFS at $100/hour. 

Approximate yearly compensation: $35,000-$40,000

We value collaboration, so you’ll work closely with our Business Development Executive to ensure the smooth operation of the program, upholding NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations.

This full-time position offers a competitive salary of $42,000 – $46,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
