PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Livingston Street is a New York State licensed non-profit daycare. Based in the Rondout/Midtown Kingston, we provide outdoor childcare for young children and nurture a supportive community for our families. Livingston Street has been located at 20 Livingston Street since 2011, and we have three established outdoor play sites: the Parking Lot, the Meditation Garden, and the Way Back Playgarden.

We are seeking proposals to provide repairs and maintenance to targeted areas of our Meditation Garden and Way Back Playgarden. Such maintenance includes: replacing railties that establish a switchback pathway, expanding our sandbox area, building a retaining wall to counteract erosion, addition of 1-3 interactive features intended to engage children aged 3-5 years (such as a mud kitchen, log table/chairs, see-saw/rope swing, etc).

Livingston Street values spaces that allow for children to navigate and interact independently, and that promote the development and nurturing of a close relationship with nature and the outdoors. Our outdoor classrooms are rustic and our programming incorporates the use of natural materials such as rocks, sticks, sand, water, etc. All work done must be in line with our programming, intriguing and inviting to young children, aesthetically pleasing, and in compliance with NYS Office of Children and Family Services regulations.

PROJECT GOALS:

  • Removal of old pathway lumber and rebar; replaced with new lumber to establish clear pathways
  • Expansion of sandbox area
  • Laying of wood chips or other temporary ground covering
  • Establishment of retaining wall to combat erosion from Meditation Garden to Way Back Playgarden
  • Addition of 1-3 play elements in Way Back Playgarden

All interested parties must submit proposals to sally@livingstonstreet.org
